HUD
First off - Your HUD is totally move-able. Hit "Esc," go to HUD Layout. You can hide/show hotbars by right clicking on them. You can move them anywhere you want. You can have four that go up and down as well. Using Ctrl+Home, you can increase/decrease the sizes of ALL screens on your HUD (including the market board, character sheet, etc). Also, you can hide unused hotbar squares in the system settings > hotbars.

While you're there, you go ahead and change the color of the party members names to something like bright green. This way, when doing fates or CT, you can easily identify your party members locations. Change FC chat to something, like bright green, so it doesnt look like emotes etc. Just a few suggestions.

Going back to the HUD and hiding/showing abilities. Once you have your rotations down and know where your keybinds are located etc, make a couple hotbars with your keybinds and hide it using the HUD Layout screen. You'll still be able to use the abilities - without the clutter.

Have a naga mouse? dont forget to use shift+mouse buttons, adds so much, so close to your thumb.

Controls
Remove back pedal by going to Character Config and on the first screen, select Legacy setting instead of standard. Your character will now run backwards easily instead of walking back.

STORY
FFXIV is story driven. Your mount, ability to sell on the market boards (retainers) and getting into endgame content is all about getting through the story. The gear you get from it and the surrounding quests will really help in your journey to 50 as well. Don't skip it!

At anytime, you can go to the Inn and view missed cutscenes.

Shift+F to set a Focus target on whatever you currently have selected. This will display a smaller HP bar on your screen, you can move it around via the HUD layout. Allows you to keep an eye on something or someone's HP bar while targeting something else and gives you a way to quickly switch back to your focus target. Set it on the tank so you can quickly select him for a heal, or set it on the boss to keep an eye on that health bar while you're dealing with adds.

/blist add <r> Add that to a macro and set it on one of your extra hot bars. Allows you to quickly blacklist the last person to send you tell. Makes getting rid of gold sellers a breeze.

That's a good one! Focus target..and change your Target Focus Target to "F" instead of F10….so much better. Along with this…move that damn bar down across your player so you can see the cast bars and hp without taking your eyes off your number/ability watching.

Oh is it not Shift+F by default? Hahaha

It is, but if you tab off your Ftarget, you'd have to press F10 by default settings to target the Ftarget. Change it to F.
